March 2005
ARK expands its HIV/AIDS treatment programme in the Western Cape and launches in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, reaching 5,300 patients two years into the programme.
June 2005
ARK and Hope and Homes for Children close seven institutions in Romania, move 1,055 children into families or small group homes and prevent a further 600 children from entering institutions.
August 2006
ARK expands HIV/AIDS treatment to Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga, doubling the size of the programme again and reaching 15,700 patients.
September 2006
ARK opens its first UK school, Burlington Danes Academy in Hammersmith & Fulham, London. A further seven academies will open over the following four years.
September 2007
ARK opens the first small group home in Bulgaria, providing high-quality care for eight children in Stara Zagora.
January 2008
ARK places the first social worker in the maternity ward of Stara Zagora’s largest hospital to prevent institutionalisation by helping vulnerable new mothers.
March 2008
ARK completes the first ever quality closure of an institution in Bulgaria, closing the Nadejda Home for Children Deprived of Parental Care, transforming the lives of 68 children.
July 2008
ARK starts its HIV/AIDS treatment programme in Mozambique with clinical operations beginning in Maputo Province.
August 2008
ARK’s School Leaders for India pilot starts in Mumbai and Pune. 12 participants join the programme.
December 2008
Andrew Day is the first graduate of Future Leaders to be appointed as headteacher, at Haberdashers’ Aske’s Knights Academy in South London.
January 2009
The municipality of Stara Zagora assumes responsibility for the management of ARK’s five small group homes in Bulgaria.

ARK’s Grant Access programme in South Africa exceeds its overall target of 21,000 social care grant applications, 19 months ahead of schedule.August 2009Teaching Leaders programme for middle leadership in the UK now has 80 participants working in 53 inner city schools.
August 2009
The three ARK academies with GCSE pupils all significantly increase the number of pupils achieving five GCSEs including English and mathematics. Burlington Danes, Walworth and Globe achieve a combined weighted average increase in GCSE attainment of 7.5 percentage points since opening, the best GCSE improvement of any multi-academy sponsor.
October 2009
ARK achieves sustainability in South Africa after enrolling 88,400 patients on HIV/ AIDS treatment via 93 clinics and supporting 31,600 grant applications.
December 2009
King Solomon Academy, ARK’s first all-through school, is rated “outstanding” by the UK’s office for standards in education, children’s services and skills (Ofsted) in its first full inspection. Ofsted says the school is “a unique and outstanding 21st century school.”
