Global Health Theme Lead
ARK seeks an exceptional person to join us as our Global Health Theme Lead. This is a key role in our team, and offers the chance to join a nimble, entrepreneurial organisation at a significant strategic point in our history.
With a focus on under-5s, ARK has programmes on HIV, Diarrhoea, and Maternal and New-born health spanning East and Southern Africa. Office Services Coordinator - Central London
We are seeking to recruit an Office Services Coordinator to join the Office Management team. The role supports the Office Supervisor to ensure that the building, services and facilities are maintained to a high standard. Your support will allow ARK's sub-teams to deliver their initiatives in education, health and child protection with maximum efficiency and impact on the quality of children's lives in the UK and worldwide.
You must have high personal and professional standards and be confident, flexible, motivated and enthusiastic - plus not be afraid of getting your hands dirty! It also helps to have a good sense of humour to take on whatever the day brings. This role is exciting and varied and you will play a key role in the overall operations and well-being of 200 staff in the Head Office. An ability to build relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds is essential to succeed in this role. The Office Management Team at ARK works as a friendly unit, which brings variety to the working day and offers flexibility for all members to bring forward new ideas.

Writer
We have a vacancy for a contract Writer. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and innovative international children's organisation and to play a central part in how it communicates.
We are looking for a journalist, freelance writer or communications executive to become our new 'word-smith'.
Can you offer us experience of writing compelling and engaging copy for general audiences, development professionals, policy makers or philanthropists? Do you write equally well for print and for the web? Are you used to carrying out your own research for the facts, figures and evidence you need to inform your writing?
If so, we'd love to hear from you.
This role is offered as a part-time contract basis of 4 days a week for an initial contract period of 8 months. Most of this work could be done remotely but it is important that you have an initial induction period at the ARK central London office to better understand the organisation and are able to visit around once a month.

Country Representative, Uganda
ARK has recently formed an exciting new partnership in Uganda with PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools), through which we will demonstrate a model of affordable quality secondary education at scale through public-private partnerships.
We are now seeking candidates for the role of ARK Country Representative, Uganda. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and oversee the delivery of this new programme and country for ARK.
Job purpose and responsibilities
Working closely with the Managing Director of PEAS, our partner organisation, the ARK Country Representative will be responsible for the successful implementation of the Partnerships for Public Education (PPE) programme. In particular, the Country Representative will:
- Provide leadership, guidance and strategic direction for the programme
- Be responsible for operational management, including planning and budgeting
- Oversee programme monitoring, evaluation and reporting
- Build ARK's profile in Uganda and build and manage relationships with key stakeholders
- Influence policy at a national level
Over time, there is potential to expand the role to include other opportunities for ARK in Uganda, potentially in our thematic areas of Health and Child Protection.
Qualifications and experience
Our ideal candidate will offer excellent strategic thinking, a willingness to challenge the status quo and enthusiasm for innovative approaches. They will offer at least 5 yearsseniormanagement experience in the development sector, preferably in education, together with a proven track record of effective programme design and implementation with evidence of results. They will also have significant experience of building effective relationships at a senior level and of policy influencing.

Finance & Administration Officer, Zimbabwe

To facilitate this, ARK seeks to fill the following key position in Zimbabwe.
JOB PURPOSE
The role's main objective is to ensure that funded programmes are effectively able to procure products and services so that projects are able to deliver the agreed outcomes to the time and budget agreed. The Administration and Finance Officer will therefore contribute to the overall good function of ARK.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Account and bank reconciliation and production of financial status reports.
- Payments and tracking of office expenses,
- Monitor internal and external expenditures ensuring compliance with defined internal and external reporting expectations and standards
- Support the in costing of programme activities, drafting of office budget and monitoring financial programme implementation
- Ensure human resource needs for the organization are being met
- Ensure overall infrastructure for the office, manage office supplies and basic equipment
- Procure products and services for ARK and ARK supported programs on time and according to specifications
- Maintain an inventory of assets and supplies
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Diploma/Degree in Accounting, Finance , Business Administration or equivalent
- Active membership to any of the following professional Boards IAC, ACCA, LCCI, CIMA, and ZAAT.
- Minimum 5 years experience in accounting, bookkeeping or auditing in a reputable organization or company relevant.
- Working experience with NGO is an asset
- Clean class 4 drivers licence

The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) function is core to ARK's mission. The role's main objective is to ensure that funded programmes are effectively able to analyze and report on performance and demonstrate impact consistent with ARK's mission. The M& E Officer will work closely with ARK programme teams to ensure that M&E frameworks are effectively implemented to allow for effective programme management and performance reporting.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensuring that programmes implement and maintain high quality M&E systems and strategy
- Support ARK with reliable and comprehensive analysis of the results and impact of programmes
- Facilitate documentation of ARK experiences, lessons learnt, impact and best practices to facilitate ease of access to partners, stakeholders, and members of the International community, researchers and policy makers;
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in, Demography, Statistics, Public Health, Health Informatics, Social Science or Health Information Management
- Experience in Public Health quantitative and qualitative research methodologies and information systems design and development.
- At least five years of experience of research and/or monitoring and evaluation, including data collection, data processing and analysis, and reporting
- Able to work in diverse contexts Computer based statistical packages such as SPSS, ACCESS, Excel
- Clean class 4 drivers licence
- Able to work long hours and travel outside duty station

Program Officer, Zimbabwe

To facilitate this, ARK seeks to fill the following key position in Zimbabwe.
JOB PURPOSE
The post holder will work collaboratively with Zimbabwean Ministry of Health and Child Welfare, other stakeholders for the successful implementation of ARK supported maternal and newborn survival programme.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Conduct planning sessions with internal and external stakeholders to agree on targets, assumptions, resources and resource allocation and budgets
- Develop annual programme implementation plans in line with the strategic plan.
- Identify training needs and facilitate training of Health Care Workers in Emergency Maternal and New Born Care.
- Undertake supportive and supervisory visits to all facilities in the districts regularly to facilitate implementation of MNCH.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in nursing with midwifery , Public health or equivalent
- At least 5 years experience working in Maternal and Child Health including program coordination and management
- A good understanding of the MNCH
- Clean class 4 drivers' licence
- Highly motivated individual, who is able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent program management skills , team player, able to network and collaborate with multiple partners effectively
- Able to work long hours and to travel outside duty station
