Linett’s Story
The experience of a Future Leader
Linett joined Future Leaders in 2006 after 7 years in teaching. She completed her residency year at Hornsey School for Girls. She says, “It was refreshing to find a programme that is specifically geared at developing leaders for challenging urban schools where there is presently much underachievement. I have learnt that core values play an important role in leading a successful school and numerous strategies for success and skills that I will need as a head teacher. I have been opened up to more radical ways of thinking and challenged through a variety of tasks.”
After her residency year with Future Leaders, Linett became a Vice Principal at John Kelly Girls’ Technology College in Brent. She is in charge of a team of nine assistant heads and is working on a number of whole school projects. She has passed the National Professional Qualification for Headship and will be seeking headship roles from next year.
