Looking ahead

Our goal is to reach more than 60,000 children by March 2015 with our English language programme and to train nearly 2,270 more teachers in our interactive phonics method.
We plan to achieve this by establishing new partnerships with educational organisations across India. We have already secured two major partnerships with Grey Matters Capital - a privately operated US foundation - and with the Bharti Foundation - the philanthropic arm of an Indian conglomerate. We are also building links with individual state education departments so that we can expand to government schools.
We hope to replicate and expand our school access pilot across India working with a range of partners. Our pilot is showing that our approach can apply across the spectrum of schools (government, not-for-profit and affordable private) and in both rural and urban environments.
We will monitor the academic performance of the pilot children over three years - both against their initial scores and those of their contemporaries who did not qualify for a voucher. This evidence will be vital to demonstrate the impact of our approach.
For both programmes, the strong partnerships we have already formed with government agencies and other philanthropic bodies in India will be key to tackling the challenges of scaling up our work.
