Pilot Programme Update (Mumbai and Pune)
The School Leaders for India (SLI) pilot has now completed its first year. Out of the 12 participants that took part in the programme seven have already obtained leadership positions; one is planning to start her own school and NGO in the North Eastern state of Sikkim; two will continue as teachers but with increased responsibility; one is joining Pratham (the largest educational non profit organisation in India) and is in charge of the Scholarship Support Programme for Bombay Municipal Corporation Hindi medium schools and one is taking a year off for maternity.
In the second and final year of the programme participants will put into practice plans they created for their new leadership roles that embody what they learnt in their first year. During this time they will be coached and supported to fulfil these plans and develop further leadership skills by ARK SLI faculty.
